Fear

Fearful Stairway. Let’s make our way to the top.

All self help books and motivational speakers say one thing, and that is to “Face your fears”. How they say it varies, however, the point is the only way past our fears is to stare it in the face.

Below I have attached a YouTube clip by Tyler Waye. He collaged together a series of clips that highlights the point to “Go where the fear is”. In other words face your fears.

We all know how it feels when we avoid our fears. That feeling of self-disappointment that haunt us into misery. Fear is produced by thought, when we form a negative image of a future scenario in our minds, it sparks fear within us. When we run away from our fears, our minds only has that negative story we have created in our head to go off. With no other explanation for the outcome, the story we form in our mind then stays true to us.

Fearful Stairway

Nelson Mandela once said “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid but he who conquers that fear”. In other words it’s okay to have fears, its okay to feel afraid, we just have to brave enough to give ourselves the opportunity to face it.

Now lets face these fears of ours. To face our fears we first have to be able to identify them. We need to make these fears of ours that we have hidden away conscious again. That’s where our fearful stairway comes in. The name might sound a bit rough, but it clearly highlights the wall we have to overcome. Each step represents one of our fears. With each step we take up the staircase our pain lessens and we head into a mysterious destination.

Let’s create our fearful stairway. Start by taking the the time to write down everything you are afraid off. It doesn’t matter how big or small that fear is. Once you have done a brain dump start ranking each fear based on its level of intensity.

Time to create our stairway. Take a photo of a staircase or draw your own and start writing each of your fears down on each step. The fears with the least intensity at the bottom and the one’s with the highest intensity at the top.

Our fears are now in front of us in black and white and we have created the path we need to take to conquer it.

Now the hard part is taking those steps. It may seem overwhelming, but we need to dig deep and get the courage to take those steps. I don’t know where this stairway of ours will lead us but I know one thing is for sure. It will take us away from the negative state that we are currently feeling. Help us gain movement back in our lives as we step our of the hole that we have found ourselves in.

With each step change is bound to occur, both in us and around us. We will see new things, experience new feels and climb new heights. Take your time, all we need is to have I foot behind the other.

Fear is not necessarily a bad thing, without fear we can never grow. Each step will be hard to take but once taken you will unlocked a whole new chapter, we will have gained a strengthen you never thought you had. With each step you level up into a stronger, happier you. Let’s start being curious of our fears, forget the stories we have already made up in our head and take to step forward to see what the real story actually is. Be curious about where each step will take you, let’s make our way to the top of this new destination.

Take some time to reflect, create your own stairway, and lets walk these steps together!
